Statement of non-discrimination
It is the policy of Hope Not Handcuffs to strictly comply with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations regarding program participants.
In addition, Hope Not Handcuffs is regulated under the laws of the State of New York and local laws and ordinances. Where state or local requirements exceed those of Federal law, these take precedence.
Nondiscrimination of program participants
Hope Not Handcuffs does not permit, condone or tolerate discrimination in any form including but not limited to:
- Sex or gender
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity or gender expression
- Racial, ethnic or national origin
- Skin color
- Age
- Marital status
- Religious affiliations or belief
- Physical or mental disability of functional limitation
- Military service of lack of military service
- Citizenship status
Reporting procedures
All reports of discrimination shall be thoroughly investigated. Disciplinary action will be taken in all cases where discrimination within the intent of this policy is established.
Reports of discrimination may be made to the Hope Not Handcuffs Program Director at gmetakes@hopenothandcuffsny.com. Any claim against the Program Director should be brought directly to the President of the Board of Directors at lucidosnp@aol.com
Any person who alleges discrimination may also notify the New York State Division of Criminal Justice within 180 days of the occurrence of discrimination via email at civilrights@dcjs.ny.gov
Notification may also be made to the New York State Office of Civil Rights at pcf.ag.ny.gov/form/CIVIL
